Coach Matt
Head of Goalie Development

Matt is currently the goalie coach for the University of Ottawa men's team. He has been coaching in Montreal and Ottawa since 2005. His experience as a Junior, Major Junior, and CIS graduate has given him great perspective of both the game and the position. Matt now calls Ottawa home and is looking to continue his coaching success with SHIFT. Matt received CIS rookie of the year honours and 2nd line all star award in 2010-2011. He also participated Memorial Cup in 2008-2009 with Rimouski Oceanic.

Coach Mavric
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Mavric joined the Lumber Kings coaching staff in the 2019-20 season and is currently the Goalie Coach for OHLs North bay Battalion and Pembroke Lumber Kings organization. He played one season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings in 2006-07 before spending four years in the Ontario Hockey League as a goaltender with Kitchener, Barrie and Saginaw.  After completing his junior career, the Eganville native attended the University of Prince Edward Island where he played varsity hockey and then spent years playing professionally.

Marshal Frappier
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Marshall, from Ottawa, excelled in minor hockey and the CCHL's Nepean Raiders before playing in the OHL. Now coaching at Shift, he's dedicated to developing goalies and fostering their success. Marshall grew up playing minor hockey in Ottawa. In 2016-17 he played for the Nepean Raiders of the CCHL where he was named to the all-rookie team and was selected to represent Team Canada White at the U-17 World Hockey Challenge. Following his stint in the CCHL, he spent three years in the OHL playing for Sudbury, Kingston, and Saginaw. Marshall is taking his knowledge and experience from his playing days and using them to transition into the coaching side. Working with developing goaltenders at Shift has been a great experience so far for Marshall and he is excited to continue helping goalies achieve their goals.

Joe Ranger
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Joe Ranger, from Carp, Ontario, progressed from junior hockey in the OHL to becoming an All-Canadian student-athlete at the University of Prince Edward Island. He now applies over a decade of experience with SHIFT to coaching and administration, nurturing aspiring athletes. Joe Ranger grew up in Carp, Ontario, and played minor hockey for the Ottawa Valley Titans and the Calderon Place Canadians U18. He was drafted 63rd overall by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Joe went on to play five seasons with the Mississauga Steelheads and the Sudbury Wolves before ending his junior career with the London Nationals in 2023. He is now enrolled at the University of Prince Edward Island, where he plays for the Men’s Panthers hockey team and was named an All-Canadian Student-Athlete in 2023-24. Joe has been a part of the SHIFT family for over 10 years, assisting in administration and on- and off-ice coaching. He looks forward to bringing his personal experience and knowledge to the next wave of athletes striving to achieve their goals.

Maude Lavesque-Ryan
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Maude coached minor hockey goalies from a young age, excelled at the University of Ottawa, represented Canada, and played professionally while coaching in Budapest's developmental leagues. Maude has been coaching minor hockey goalies at different levels since she was 13 years old, gaining coaching experience in the school structure (programme sports-études en français) and coaching at specialized summer camps as well during the majority of her playing career. A member of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (2014-2019), where she was named on the first RSEQ all-star team, team MVP and rookie of the year at the university, she was also in charge of the Gee-Gees summer camps as well as the Gee-Gees prospect camps. After representing Canada at the FISU university games in 2019 in Russia (silver medal), Maude played 2 seasons professionally in Kazakhstan and Hungary, earning the bronze (2020) then the gold (2021) in the EWHL championship playoffs. During her playing days in Hungary, she also coached in both the men’s and women’s KMH Budapest developmental structure.

Joe Quatrachi
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Joe has been coaching since the age of 13, working with many minor hockey teams around the Ottawa area. I began my junior hockey career with Smiths Falls before playing in the AJHL for 2 years. I moved on from junior hockey in 2011 where I played for the Hamilton Continentals in NESCAC (NCAA). Joe holds the record for all-time saves and all-time shots against, surpassing NHL’er Guy Hebert, and is in the top 5 in all-time save percentage in Hamilton’s 100-year hockey history.

Austin Cain
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Austin is a seasoned hockey professional from Kanata, Ontario. He brings over 20 years of experience in playing, coaching, and player representation, specializing in goaltending development across North America. Austin grew up in Kanata, Ontario where he played his minor hockey before moving to Toronto to play 3 seasons of juniors.  He then went on to play 5 seasons in the NCAA split between Western Michigan University and Providence College.  In 2022 he signed with the Worcester Railers in the ECHL, a minor league affiliate for the New York Islanders. Following his playing career, Austin has continued to coach goaltenders all over Canada and the United States, working with No Excuses Goaltending out of Whitby, Ontario (3 years), Kalamazoo Minor Hockey Association in Michigan (4 years), and the Southern Rhode Island Youth Hockey Association in Providence (1 year). In addition to on-ice goaltending development, Austin is a Player Agent & Lead Goaltending Consultant for CKM Sports Management.  Austin is responsible for player placement & contract negotiation for CKM clients and leading the development of goaltenders for CKM by providing professional scouting reports, individual performance analytic reports, and 1 on 1 video performance analysis.  Combined, Austin has been involved in hockey for over 20 years.  He looks forward to merging his experience with playing, development, and representation to provide the best guidance for the next generation of goaltenders.

Cooper Kasdorf
Sr. Goalie Development Coach

Cooper has been coached and mentored by the team at Shift since he first started goaltending 12 years ago. He most recently played AAA U18 for the Smiths Falls Bears and the Ottawa Valley Titans before illness changed his trajectory in the sport. Resilience and dedication learned through hockey supported his recovery and he has turned his love of the sport to helping young athletes develop their skills and talents.
